The National Centre for Rural Development, NCRD, is a registered Public Charitable Trust. With firm belief in extending quality education to the masses, NCRD strives to empower students to harness all the potential that they possess, thereby creating effective, active and responsible citizens.
NCRD started its academic programs by offering education at school level. The NCRD’s Sterling Institute of Pharmacy, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, Government of Maharashtra and affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai, started functioning in the year 2004. It has the advanced educational infrastructure which includes air-conditioned class rooms equipped with state of the art audio visual aids; well equipped laboratories; library with rich stock of books of diversified range, journals, e-journals; computer lab with computers of latest configuration and internet facility.
The Institute has dedicated faculty and staff creating an environment, which is conducive to the holistic development of the students. The dedication of the staff and activities conducted for the students, comprehensively help in gaining knowledge and improves the overall personality of the students, thus making them industry- ready. This is reflected in the excellent track record of placement of outgoing batches in multinational and national pharmaceutical organization and number of students pursuing higher studies abroad and in India.

National Centre for Rural Development (NCRD) is a Registered Public Charitable Trust, founded in the year 1991 with a vision to educate rural masses of India. Completion of its 26 years has resulted into strong commitments toward the nation’s growth. Currently, NCRD is actively educating masses from pre-nursery to various professional programs like Bachelor of Pharmacy, with its various institutes situated in Pune and Navi Mumbai.

"It is easy to get a thousand prescriptions, but hard to get one single remedy." The proverb explains the significance of pharmacy profession. The Indian pharmaceutical industry is driving product development and breaking new grounds in pharmaceutical research worldwide. As per the report of business standard 2014, the Indian pharmaceutical industry is one of the world's largest and most developed industry, ranking 4th in volume terms and 13th in terms of value.
It is bound to have an ever growing demand of pharmacy professionals not only in the country, but even worldwide. Anticipating this demand the NCRD Trust put the wheels in motion that brought about the existence of Sterling Institute of Pharmacy in 2004.
We strive hard in our endeavor of "quality education & skill based learning" to create competent professional workforce required by industry. We plan to achieve this by "mentoring" our students so that they overcome challenges in the health care industry with knowledge, skills, courage, confidence and integrity. The institute has developed excellent educational infrastructure, has well qualified, experienced staff with good retention ratio, effective alumni network for growth and development of institute.
To bridge the gap between industry & academia, our institute has started a course - SYNAPSE in association with its alumnus. The distinguished feature of institute is all students (including F. Y. B. Pharm., S. Y. B. Pharm. and T. Y. B. Pharm.) go for training during summer vacation. Students of S.Y. B Pharm are placed in UHC’s (Urban Health Care) centers for training program of 15 days duration during their summer vacation. They are trained in aspects of pharmaceutical care including counseling. This is done in collaboration with NMMC (Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation).
The institute gives opportunities to students to interact with experts from industry and academia to make them aware of recent advancements in pharma industry by organizing guest lectures/ seminars, by organizing hospital and industrial visits. To build good rapport between the industry and the institute, our institute has Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four pharmaceutical companies and two hospitals.

I have visited NCRD’s Sterling Institute of Pharmacy a couple of times for seminars, rallies, blood donation camps and other social activities. I appreciate the way they take responsibility to conduct these social programs. It has very good premises, good infrastructure, well equipped labs along with a library with vast referral material.
It has been a pleasure to interact with ever agile students of Sterling Institute of Pharmacy. I have found the students of the Institute are very hard working and keen to interact with pharmaceutical industry even at undergraduate level. I offer patronage to the Institute, especially for motivating students to excel themselves in research.
In my opinion, there are two important attributes to a good institute. First, it has to have good ambience and secondly, it should possess ethos. As far as ambience of Sterling Institute of Pharmacy is concerned the kind of infrastructure developed by the management and the facilities provided in terms of laboratories, class rooms, office for Principal and staff members.
I had visited Sterling Institute of Pharmacy for a couple of occasions and had opportunity to interact with the management of the Institute. I found management is proactive in uplifting the profession. I have also interacted with faculty members many a times, they are hard working, well experienced and dedicated for the holistic development of students.
NCRD’s Sterling Institute of Pharmacy has supported Indian Pharmaceutical Association- Student Forum by all means. Since last four years, IPA-SF is arranging National Pharmacy Week in the Institute. I am very thankful to the Management, Principal and Staff members of the Institute for the spontaneous co-operation.
